Custom Maple Burl Box           This is one of two boxes I made for the CEO of a large American corporation (very large actually) as a gift to departing members of its board of directors. This box was made from thick (3/32") veneer I sawed from a block of highest quality Oregon big leaf maple burl, accented with ebony. The three inlaid "coins" depict the evolution of the corporation's logo during the time the board member served.         I worked with a design team at a large public relations firm, so not all the choices were mine, but I was pleased with the finished product, and was told they made a big hit at the farewell banquet.                     .
